KIRKUS REVIEW

More silliness for tall, bumbling Appleton Porter of British Intelligence, who has two pressing issues to deal with here: Can he get his beloved old car, Ethel, accepted by the Antique London Taxicab Owners Guild? And: have the Commies infiltrated the London chapter of Blushers Anonymous? Appleton, you see, a notorious blusher himself, has joined BA--only to find himself shadowed and coshed at regular intervals. Moreover, his new BA sweetheart soon gets kidnapped. So there must be a foreign agent at work--perhaps BA founder Lady Barre herself! Feeble fare for Appleton fans only--whose ranks are unlikely to be swelled by the recent US release of ""The Trouble With Spies"" (based on Apple Pie in the Sky, which, according to Vincent Canby of the New York Times, ""should be put back into its can and a heavy object placed on top, to prevent any further escapes.
