More about Marinette and Delphine, those two beguiling heroines of the French playwright's The Wonderful Farm (1951) pictures again the pastoral innocence of their fable-like adventures on the farm. Now they start off with a morning painting session- and the animals they draw take on the qualities attributed to them in the little girls' pictures. Then there is the evil wolf who turned good- the panther who came all the way from Africa only to suffer with the cold and die- the pig who got the buzzard's wings and was happy he could fly. Gently told, these have their charm and mystery, their play of words, colors, sounds and very human characteristics that bring a certain earthiness into the magic, and will enchant with their timeless quality of fairy tale and fable.
