KIRKUS REVIEW

These rhymes have the directness and spontaneity of children's own verse, and for that reason might easily be used with little children to stimulate their natural expression of their own thought and response. As poetry, it is uneven, and not likely to appeal to children as verse to be made their own -- memorized -- repeated. Many everyday aspects of country life are covered, and the silhouette illustrations have great charm, and more spirit than that type of illustration usually seem to have. A good introduction to the country for city children.
