Georgia family life, in Maxfield Parrish colors, backgrounds the romance of Carol and Rod, the dreams of a musical career of Carol's brother, David and the financial problems of their father. For the Middletons have always been planters and David to follow the tradition in spite of his great talent for the piano but Carol makes every effort to away her father. She loses her heart to Tod when he comes to persuade Mr. Middleton that his kaolin deposits should be mined and soon learns that there is a shadow over his life and that he is apparently bound to ruthless Maxine. What with illness for father, a chance for David and a flood, it takes a while for the secret to out and Carol to be secure in Rod's arms. That ol' Southern comfort.
