A COMPLETE GUIDE FOR THE WORKING MOTHER

There have been a number of books on this subject, most recently Lois Benjamin's So You Want to Be a Working Mother (1966-p.288) but the complete in the title here is really operative all the way through to the extensive bibliography. There are some, not too deeply pursued, psychological considerations (why you work; how your husband feels about it; who's going to do what? money; etc.); there's a chapter on the working mother without a man; on the effects on the children (deprivation--unproven); on schools and summers and surrogate mothers; on types of jobs and hours; and a good deal about home management. Mrs. Albrecht sponsors all time-and-energy assists, saves and spends in the right places and gives priority to the people in your family rather than the paraphernalia in your home. A sensible book, a good book.
