SERAPHINA TODD by Margaret Ann Hubbard Kirkus Star

I liked this story of early days -- under the Spanish regime --in what became San Antonio, Texas. Seraphina Todd's parents were New England born, but of British ancestry, just after the American Revolution. They had the urge to blaze new trails, and they moved, lock, stock and barrel, first to New Orleans, than to Texas, where chance threw them on the mercy of the commander of the Spanish colony, under strict orders to consider all the English their enemies. A good tale of how tact and grit won them a place in the community.
