Miss Bemister is a superb story teller and brings to vivid reality the experiences of the long ocean voyage:- the quelling of impending mutiny. The surmounting of navigation problems; the winning over of natives of the New World. (One 11-year old who read the book said it was better than his current favorite literary diet of Science Fiction). So convincingly are Miguel's adventures interwoven with the true story of the discovery of America that most readers will be convinced that he must be true.
