THE COMPLETE BOOK OF HORSES AND PONIES

This book is a handbook on horses, their care, showing, jumping, judging; and it should aid in the enjoyment that comes with knowing the proper way to do things around a stable. The author is a horsewoman who is well known both in New England and the Southwest and her experience in teaching horsemanship and with the formation of riding clubs has served her well here. It has put her in a position to know both the questions and the answers that younger horsemen will ask. The book is cast in question and answer form. The illustrations will comprise over 140 line drawings as well as photographs. (The illustrator is a horseman, too.) These drawings, which were seen separately from the text, appear to be carefully drawn and are both labelled and captioned. Although there are a few good adult titles that deal with the care and training of horses, there has been a gap at the age level that is always most anxious to do and know things for themselves. The book will adequately fill this gap. It is a lot of book for this price.
