KIRKUS REVIEW

Historical romance dealing with the reign of Richard II. As a youth he had distaste for physical encounters, but the peasant revolt of Wat Tyler challenged him, and he proved he had within him the valor of his father, the Black Prince. His was a checkered career- with one great romance- with a later marriage to a child bride-with dispossession and violent death. A poignant story, well told, reflecting much of a tumultuous era.
