Mouse herself is visually the most appealing of her kind. She is not, however, shown doing anything very interesting against the background of her home in which there is very little to be discovered. The text takes Mouse from early spring to the New Year telling briefly how she lives out the country round. Mouse is delicately drawn in three colors, but a dullish text and understated illustrations make it only a paper sleeping pill for the afternoon nap age.
