A garland of sentimental stories to gladden the heavy heart at Christmastime, easy to devour and sigh over. There are stories of love and romance, of crooks warmed to the core by old memories at the happy season... There is the town of Chester, which by a homely miracle becomes a loving community; Mr. Sears, who takes a Santa Claus job while out of prison and slips the model plane to the Tenth Avenue kid; the star peddlar who turns homeward after twenty years; the grandmother who decides that independence costs too much in terms of loneliness; the business executive who decides he loves his family more than his company; the members of a family who deprive themselves for one another and find a special joy, and so on...For a nostalgic, weepy moment, this is pleasant to linger over.
