OCKETFUL OF RAISINS

The owner of the pocket is Holly Ashmore, a novice camper who goes on a ten day field trip because her boy friend has been forced to go by his parents. From the moment she meets her tentmate -- an annoyingly efficient tomboy-- on the bus, Holly begins to long for the end of the dismal jaunt. They travel through various parks in the West, and along every uphill walk and downhill rockpath, Holly blunders, stumbles, acquires mean blisters, etc. Scott, a pleasant, experienced campor, helps the girl partly out of good will and partly because he's attracted to the ""prize boob."" As Scott gains attention from awkward but pretty Holly, Curt (the old self-centered beau) loses out. Holly returns with a new boy friend and an award for having been voted the Most Improved Camper. Holly's a bit too clumey, Scott's a little too patient, and Curt's too selfish-- which makes the story seem contrived; nonetheless it has its amusing aspects. JLG selection.
