WOMEN FOR DEFENSE by Margaret Culkin Banning

WOMEN FOR DEFENSE

By

Pub Date: Feb. 18th, 1942
Publisher: Duell, Sloan & Pearce

A sound appraisal of women today and yesterday, the role of women in wartime. The last war, when women were slowly acquiring their rights, when they were inexperienced, emotional, when the focus was on public homemaking rather than active positions in industry or civilian defense. The intervening years, when advances in education and opportunities gave women emancipation and responsibility. Today, when they have the opportunity and the capability. Women in munitions, in clubs, in home and community work, in civilian defense. Finally, a close-up of what they have done in the countries at war. Good club discussion book, but not as practical a book as a blueprint as -- for instance -- Women of Britain.
