A wide and well-chosen selection of prose, poetry and prayers from writers of past and present whose thoughts and beliefs about eternal life have the power to inspire and comfort in every age. The editor, Margaret E. Burton, has avoided well the overly sentimental, and the vague wishful thinking that so often tries to pass for genuine insight in this area of human experience, and the best loved passages of long ago, Socrates, Seneca, Augustine, for example, are well blended with the writing of the spiritual leaders of today, among them Fosdick, (who has also written a foreword) Sizoo, Rufus Jones and Oxenham. Many will find this book of great help; it would make a most appropriate remembrance to those who are perplexed and grieving because of the loss of loved ones.
