BATTLE STATIONS by Margaret- Ed. Scoggin

This collection of excerpts from war books written since 1945 covers a wide range of global battle stations- from the Philippine PT boat squads to R.A.F. raids over France and Germany. A representative listing includes Michael Sterne with a tale of the North Atlantic run from his Into the Jaws of Death, a harrowing record of awaiting rescue at sea from The Raft, by Robert Trumbull, an air mission from Beirne Lay's I've Had It. Deeper and more concerned with the human than the sensational, these should be welcome antidotes for the comic and the pulp.
