KIRKUS REVIEW

Companion volume to that ideal collection of humorous stories, Chucklebait, published in 1945 and still going strong. This is quite different, in that most of the material is drawn from non-fiction sources,- biographies, personal experience or nostalgic recalls, and that the choice is keyed to phases of teen age interest. The sub-titles indicate this,- Growing Pains, Problem Parents, Love of Sport, Man with a Maid, Minor Mishaps. No one will quarrel with the inclusions (unless to feel that Pickwick Papers today needs a special kind of introduction- perhaps this will be it?); everyone will think of favorite bits that might have been used. But with Kathryn Forbes, Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough, Ruth McKenney, Hartzell Spence, William Saroyan and others, there's choice for many moods and temperaments. Steinberg decorations.
