The material in this book appeared originally in two volumes,- A Child's Book of Myths (1924) and Enchantment Tales for Children (1926). Long favorites, their reissue in one volume will be welcomed as a satisfying retelling of 19 best loved stories. The format is slightly larger, with wider margins, good typography. The original picture plates and insets seem, one is forced to confess, rather dated, and in the case of the full color pages, somewhat sentimental. But the book, on the whole, is an excellent first book of the myths which should be part of our literary heritage.
