ROLY-POLY SNOWMAN

Though Margaret Otto is better at reality than fantasy- see Stephen's Train and Cocoa, two good small boy stories- there is a pleasing theme to this forest folk tale. As the snowman begins to melt, all the animals guess at his ""secret"" until it's revealed that as he goes, he reappears again as part of all that grows around him. On the ""sweet"" side, but Susanne Suba's drawings add the necessary salt and pepper.
