STEPHEN'S TRAIN

Young Stephen is five and his first train trip alone, from the country to the city, gets an engaging world within a world kind of treatment that brings his story directly into the ken of the age group. Long train-like pictures in red and black by Mary Stevens have the neat appearance of reality, are perfect backdrops for Stephen as he climbs aboard, makes friends with the conductor named Mr. Stephen, plays with another little boy also Stephen, talks to two old ladies, the candyman and finally meets his grandmother in the city.
