KIRKUS REVIEW

An amazing conglomeration of typical ingredients of mysteries is stirred no here; jumbled together are the mean, conniving relative, the precocious son, the big time crook, the brave cripple, etc.-- all tangled up with an emerald necklace, a valuable painting, and an old diary in Iowa. Too much for the even slightly critical reader to swallow-- even at short sittings. The author also wrote The Calico Ball (1961, p. 733, J-257).
