An exciting story of intrigue and of Tito's underground forces in operation, in an improbable but essentially readable story of a girl reporter. Aimed at above Fifteen, this has enough action to appeal to younger readers too. In peacetime, Kay had known a scientist, Dr. Halper, who had been sent on a dangerous mission into a German prison in Belgrade. Kay is tricked into the hands of the Nais in London; she is rescued by her fiance, Tim Denver, with the O.S.S. -- and he gives her reason to doubt his loyalty before she realizes that he, too, is on secret mission. After plenty of hairbreadth adventure she reaches Dr. alper's cell -- only to find him murdered. Again escape -- and the discovery of the message the doctor had left for her -- and her return to the safety of Partisan territory. Coincidence overreaches itself and strains credulity.
