KIRKUS REVIEW

The fastest coach on the Bristol road in England years ago had been the Bright High Flyer. Young Tom Merit boarded the coach at Tucket Lightly to escape from his stepfather, Claws Johnson, and secreted aboard the coach a diamond when a highwayman stopped the travelers. The vacationing Bennet family generations later unearthed the treasure in a compact and folksy little book about believable British children and their dog. Dialogue is deftly handled, and there is subtle humor in the account of a family coming to terms with the summer place they rented sight unseen.
