THE STORY OF GENERAL CUSTER

Along with the vital statistics of the ill-fated general's life, rendered in Signature's traditional narrative style, there is a good picture of the effect a personality can have on a national issue. For the author pictures Custer as a man whose heroism ended the Sioux wars, but she is careful to say that it was an unreasoned love of fighting and fighting ""Injuns"" that led to his bravery. Lacks in justice and understanding both on the Indians' and the white men's parts are aired side by side with the exciting events.
