KIRKUS REVIEW

In an urgent first person, littered with retrospective ifs, Roseanne finds herself abandoned by her husband Robert who also seems to have defected from the Foreign Office. She is unswervingly loyal to him, in spite of another woman (his former wife--resurrected), and in spite of the fact that he is obviously trying to kill her. Everyone tells her she is naive. It would be hard to think otherwise.
