MRS. MAITLAND'S AFFAIR

More romantic, than cryptic, this is a first person and feminine account of the dissolution of a marriage and the substitution of an affair as a young woman falls in love with a personable outsider. That he is murdered does not keep her from acquiring his home and its haunted history which had led to murder before. Some of the suspense lies in the contradictions within the characters but the situation is by no means as sinister as expected or hoped for. Only competent.
