Each one of the descriptions about twenty-nine of our best known trees is illustrated with a colored lithograph by Alice Bird. The text is unusually satisfactory, brief, clear and well-phrased, under each written page are black-and-white sketohes of the various leaves, blossoms and fruits. The trees selected are the white pine, white oak, red oak, pitch pine, sugar maple, red maple, hemlock, sycamore, elm, tulip, beech, shagbark hickory, red cedar, espan, sassafras, yellow willow, black locust, red mulberry, horse chestnut, white ash, mountain ash, white birch, flowering dogwood, eucalyptus, douglas fir, lombardy poplar, monterey cypress, magnolias, and giant oactus.
