KIRKUS REVIEW

Fox Island again, but not Sheriff Gil Donan, for it is through gossip, innuendo and retrospective memories that the story of just what happened between Tom Galdwell, his faithless wife and another Winslow woman, Mariah- whose disfigured face was perhaps ""the mark of sin"", is revealed. Again the ingrown island community here is as important as the story itself and the many who like this series. (The Bell on onely, etc.) will find the Maine tang and twang contributory.
