The usual romance is easy to spot, but the mystery is hard to find. Phyl Perry, orphan and art student, lands a part-time job with a small picture framing company run by Mr. Dream himself, fascinating, fey and completely absorbed in his little business. Phyl's roommate, music student Jan, meets Phyl's workmate, orphan Art. Two romances. A suspicious antique-dealer next door, mysterious lights in the antique shop's roped-off second floor late at night, the dealer's interest in a certain Chinese scroll, and two Chinese visitors arouse Phyl's feminine intuition; the most unharrowing climax reveals a smuggling ring for Chinese Communist goods. P.S. -- Phyl begins to make some time with her man and the parting line is ""Dinner at the Scottish Kilt--just the two of them!"" Politically primitive and very square.
