KIRKUS REVIEW

Like Lance of Oak Valley (1963, 237, J-91) the author's latest has large, clear poster-style print and black and white sketches. Shadow, half tabby and half wildcat, was raised in a fishing camp. At the end of the season, left behind by mistake, Shadow is forced to survive the wilds. A series of events lead to a trap which leads to a cage in the zoo. There i the spring, Shadow is spotted by Ruth Allen, a woman from the ishing camp who had given him much attention the previous season. Ruth adopts Shadow and he becomes a fat, window-ledge dozing city cat. Although improbable, the nature story should be of interest to beginners.
