This dog series has its ups and downs, but this is one of the ""ups"". Briar was -- from a puppy -- very sensitive to human attitudes and emotions. She disliked her owner, even to the point of failing to win top honors in the ring when shown by him; she loved the wife of the manager of the Maine kennels where she was sent for special training and breeding; she was jealous of the husky that held first place in her beloved Mrs. Blake's heart. Here's a good- and credible- dog story, which points up the qualities that distinguish the true collie, through plausible adventures.
