Five saints are chosen for this collection of brief biographies:- St. Aloysius Gonzaza, St. Rose of Lima, St. Benedict Joseph Labre, St. Gemma Galgami, St. Therese of Lisieux. The author believes that all saints began life as normal human beings, and that their lives represent God's criticism of man for his wrong doings. She then presents these lives of a group of religious fanatics who early in life exhibited psychological oddities and lived a brief span of years enveloped in physical and mental symptoms interpreted by them and their associates as indications of ""sainthood"". There is little interpretation or extension of thought beyond the factual record, and the result is that the author fails to convey the point she evidently intended to make. The book seems a biased interpretation of interest to a limited group of readers.
