Substantial shakeup for Constancia, who-on the verge of marrying Ray, a crank for eugenics, finds out that she's adopted, and is afraid of her suitability as wife and mother since no one can vouch for her blood lines. She turns to Gil, his best friend, who takes her on face value and marries her; they settle in his home town and she tries to get a lead on her true parentage. She finds she is not in love with Gil, and they agree to a divorce and she plans, when free, to marry Ray. She finds during her sleuthing that she can boast fine blood, and legitimacy -- and she decides that after all she loves the man who took her on trust. Rental romancing, with more substance than some.
