THE SECRET OF THE PORCELAIN FISH

A nice story and an unusual one in its content. The ""porcelain"" city of China, as setting for the contest between Shen Ki, esteemed potter, and Wang, an evil merchant who wished to discover the secret of Shen Ki's fabulous porcelain. An orphan lad, apprenticed to Shen Ki, became entangled in the evil web, but eventually achieved his freedom. Interwoven with the story is a great deal of information on the art of porcelain making and the customs of the city. Attractive spots by Thomas Handforth catch the special quality of the story. A beautiful piece of bookmaking.
