On a somewhat simpler level than a similar pair of books by Kuklin (p. 620/C-98), these are also a bit less expensive. Siracusa's soft, cartoonlike illustrations are clear and serviceable, but Jess attractive than Kuklin's color photos. In an unusual feature, alternate pages fold out here to accommodate a question-and-answer style: e.g., ""What will the dentist use?"" X-ray, camera, and flashlight are shown; the opposite page unfolds to show an X-ray in use. All the characters here are white; the dentist is a woman. These will be useful as introductions for children with the most rudimentary language skills; and they're sure to enjoy--and learn from--the interaction.
