TONIE WONDERNO by Marguerite De Angoli

TONIE WONDERNO

By

Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

Always curious, was Yonie, and so he got his nickname. Sometimes his curiosity got him into trouble -- sometimes things turned out well as when he rescued the old sow from the burning barn, and almost forgot the valuable bull. But he got him out with only minor injuries -- and the old sow presented Yonie's father with a litter of pigs, one of which Yonie was given for his very own...Another Pennsylvania Dutch story, young enough in format and content to read aloud to seven and eight year olds, but somewhat difficult reading vocabulary and dialect -- for reading to themselves. Her books have a very special charm of their own; their very old-fashionedness is appropriate to the regional and period backgrounds, and she tells enough story to carry the interest.
