LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE

Ellen Seymour, high school junior, has a full program of activities, but this is the year she must decide if she is willing to do the extra work that will start her on the road to being a professional dancer. Her mother, who runs the dancing school, near Boston, feels she has the talent if she has the will to work hard. The high school play, athletics, heart interests, ballet, ballroom dancing, cheer-leading, helping with the baby dance classes, studies, etc., those seem to fill the hours, (as well they might). But Ellen finds time to do the extra work which brings her up into the professional class. Her long hours are rewarded when she gets an unexpected offer which leads to hope for a bright summer. Simple characters, but fairly interestingly portrayed. This does not have the vigor and professional appeal of Gloria Ballet Dancer by G. Malvern (Messner) but it too has the sound emphasis of work rather than chance and beauty.
