A regular summer resident, Cherry Ormsby is devoted to the Cape community of Provincetown. Used to the easy companionship of Jeff, another summer visitor, she is sure that nothing can mar their pleasant routine of swimming and sailing. But when a snobbish family with a young son takes a cottage near Cherry's, the sixteen-year-old girl finds herself involved in a complicated social triangle. Caught between her sympathy with Roy and her affection for Jeff, Cherry's sixteenth summer is something less than pleasant until the three young people join forces to help track down a group of smugglers. This book contains a veritable diatribe against snobbery, particularly that snobbery aimed at the more bohemian elements of Provincetown. Sailing enthusiasts and readers who are partial to the seaside atmosphere will enjoy the experiences of Cherry, a wholesome and strong minded heroine.
