KIRKUS REVIEW

.....but so that she can be ready to go in the parlour, this cookbook offers some special dishes which can be easily prepared and comfortably served. While Mrs. McCarthy is not above using mixes, cans, etc. as a base, her dishes have special dressings- frankfurters a savory sauce, persimmons- creme de cacao- and the combinations are unusual. Entertaining with case includes canapes, casseroles and chafing dishes; there are hot weather menus-Sunday suppers- soup and sandwich meals. Almost a snack type cuisine- but different- and presumably delectable.
