Not an important book, but an excellent bet for the conservative reading public and the circulating library. The old pattern of the country boy who goes to the city and makes good, and who is then driven back by circumstances to the country again, and there finds the jewel he missed before. But it has new life to it -- as developed here -- and problems of today are wisely faced and met, unemployment, unstable banking methods, the aftermath of boom years, and a healthy recognition of what the country has to offer. There is a love story, of course, but it is not over sentimental. And the writing is above average.
