ANGEL IN THE FOREST

A breathless, nonstop history of that strange community of New Harmony, Indiana, and the two men who established settlements there to prove their theories:- Father George Rapp, from Wurttemberg, whose scriptural communism saw heaven as its goal and Robert Owem of Wales, who found that theory and practice became confused. This is the interwoven story of two dreams --two Utopins that had some value as moral maps. Then the contrast of these model communities with New Harmony in 1940 -- the discrepancies of its life as contrasted with 1815-24. An interesting, showy but intensive study of curious, wonderful and far-reaching patterns of thought and living.
