A LETTER TO ANYWHERE

This is a short introduction to how the postal service works and how it came to be, in a vocabulary suitable for readers just past the beginning stage. There is a quick survey of the odd and intriguing ways in which the men of more primitive times communicated -- drums, knotted cords, runners, hand carried letters, etc. The introduction of the postage stamp system in England and its eventual world-wide adoption is well and briefly covered. The illustrations are all poster bold in color, poster plain in form and done with great good humor. Altogether a much better book than this team's last -- Money Round the World.
