Edited by Helen Corbitt, this cookbook is written by a Mexican who is Home Economics Consultant of the J. Walter Thompson Agency in New York. The title suggests a certain amount of narrative and ""local flavor""; actually, the only narrative material here is a short chapter with brief sketches of Mexican festivals and a few words by way of introduction to tortillas. The recipes are of course extremely economical and are clear and easy to follow with ingredients readily obtainable. Especially enticing are the numerous recipes for Sauces, Fish, and Poultry. For those who are enthusiasts or Mexican food, this is a well selected, basic collection from south of the border.
