KIRKUS REVIEW

The adventitious adventures of a painted Golden Fish who leaps off his canvas to join the (pink) goldfish in the museum fountain, then leads them through the hole in the bottom to the open sea where he effects assorted rescues before returning -- despite a call to become king of the Seafolk -- to the children in the museum who miss him. The large decorative watercolors exhibit many forms but little substance, which can be said of the book as a whole.
