THE SHROUDED WOMAN

With a marked Latin lyricism, an almost tormented exaltation, this traces- in retrospect- the emotional links of Ana Maria to others, as- shrouded, she awaits her last rites. Of her first love, Ricardo, who abandoned her for his career- denied his implication when she becomes pregnant; of Alberto, her son, whose wife, Maria, was to have the ""curse of beauty"" -- and to cause tragedy among Ana Marie's other children, as first her son, Fred, then her son-in-law fall in, love with Maria; of Antonio, her husband, whom she loved only when she lost him to another; all these entanglements are brushed in, episodically, evocatively, and with a lack of restraint which many- who do not care for a display of passion- may find disturbing.
