KIRKUS REVIEW

A simple, attractive book, highly reminiscent of Flack's Angus and the Cat. ""Puppy [is] sleeping a sweet puppy sleep"" when Kitten says, ""Meow?' Puppy tries to find the source of the sound, around the house and outdoors--where he encounters a fierce dog, a bee, and a frog, and the kitten follows unobserved by him but easily spied by the small ""reader."" Returning home, ""his puppy spirit [is] sad,"" but he is at last united with the now friendly kitten. Puppy is appealingly like a small, expressive golden retriever; the stylized illustrations are simple and clear. A good choice for a toddler group.
