A good story, which would have been improved by some drastic editing. Some good pictures by Nell Stolp Smock, which would have been improved by more white space. All in all, both story and pictures seem to have been too hastily put together, and a book about a Sicilian lad and his donkey, which might have had some distinction, turns out to be just another book about a boy and his donkey.
