Pub Date: Jan. 22nd, 1935
Publisher: Macmillan

Collection of sketches centering around a tiny French provincial town, a town still lacking the amenities of civilization, and fearing the acceptance of the boon of electricity because of the probable loss of their boasted independence. Stories, sketches, impressions of the people and the place, etched with humor, irony, and a certain tenderness and charm. A book for a limited market. The writer is supposedly the woman who held the joint position of secretary to the mairie and teacher of a non-existent school. Buy only with definite customers in mind, as it is not likely to achieve much publicity.
