KIRKUS REVIEW

Predictably, as with most economy-bent cookbook seeresses, the author hits the hamburg-fish-poultry-evaporated milk trail, but somehow, the sound of penny-jingling distracts the reader from anticipatory salivation. Mrs. Hamm's planned shopping tips are all worthy and helpful, meals are covered, soup-to-sherbet, but the woman's page format and the emphasis on thrift cast a pall. Recipes competent if routine.
