SPICE & SCENT: Herbs in Fact And Fancy by Maril Lee

SPICE & SCENT: Herbs in Fact And Fancy

By

Publisher: Coward, McCann

An exquisite little volume for Spring, appropriately printed in green, jacketed and bound in yellow and delicately illustrated in five colors, this book is an unusual combination of information and story material. Text and fine color plates describe some dozen or so of the best known herbs, their history, cultivation, culinary and commercial uses. For each there is also a legend, charmingly written. It is difficult to know what juvenile audience this book will reach. It is a delightful gift book for the interested gardener not too young to have an intellectual interest in herbs nor too old to enjoy legends of their origin. This means that it is a very special book for the very special child, and will probably delight the giver most.
