TERRY'S FERRY by Marion Belden Cook

TERRY'S FERRY

By

Publisher: Dutton

If it hadn't been opening day of the circus Terry would have enjoyed ferrying passengers in his little rowboat. But he wanted to earn a front row seat with the fish he would catch. Terry had barely cast his line out when a succession of people harassed him. The bridge to the Village was out, so before the afternoon ended Terry had conducted a ferry for the balloon man, two trapeze artists, the fat lady, and two midgets. Though Terry's ferrying yielded no fish, it brought him into the circus for a triumphal entry aboard the shoulders of the strong man. The elements here are oft-tried and usually successful:- wish fulfillment, repetition of an incident, incidental humor and accomplishment of an objective.
